What is OtherScreen?
OtherScreen is something different, something new.
These days, everyone is surfing the web while they're watching the tube. OtherScreen mashes those two experiences together.
Want to try it? It's simple: Tune your TV to an event we're covering. Log in to OtherScreen.
Here's what will happen to you:
You'll be asked engaging questions about the event you're watching. Will Kevin Garnett make this Free Throw? Who will lead at halftime? Which coach will be interviewed next?
You'll engage in friendly competition. You get points every time you successfully predict an outcome. Make the most successful predictions and you win!
You'll be able to share the social experience of watching the game with other fans. Trust me, OtherScreen chat rooms bring the funny.
You'll be able to invite your friends to share the experience with you. You can set up your own private area so you and your friends can OtherScreen together.
Most of all, you get the satisfaction of full engagement. Watching TV with OtherScreen is just better. It's more entertaining, it's more social, it's more fun with TV.
OtherScreen is revolutionizing the way people watch live television.
More than 80% of mobile users use their device while watching television and usually what their watching on the tube has nothing to do with where they surf on the web.
OtherScreen changes this by creating a fun and engaging game in which people get interesting, game-related ‘companion content’ on their mobile devices — laptops, smart phones and tablets — while interacting with other people who are watching the same live event.
OtherScreen 'Content DJs' ask trivia and prediction questions, and users compete for points and have the opportunity to chat with their friends.
The OtherScreen team, who are a bunch of stat nerds, loves to debate sports in the office. We wanted to share that love of all things sports at blog.otherscreen.com.
We like to write up articles that pit hypothetical NBA dream teams against each other, posts that compare NFL quarterbacks through the ages, and stuff about which college conference truly dominates a certain sport. Frankly, we write about the same kind of stuff you and your friends argue about at your local bar.
Here are some facts about OtherScreen to get to know us a little better:
- Won an innovation grant from NC IDEA. More than 110 companies applied; only five grants were awarded.
- The entire OtherScreen team lives in Charlotte, N.C.

- Garth, who was a co-founder of Jigsaw — which sold to Salesforce.com in 2010 for $175-million. Garth’s summa cum laude from Brown.
- Andrew, who worked at Livermore, for the US Air Force and Medtronic while learning to code in his spare time. He’s Jamaican!
